Windows WiFi Fix

Windows Zero Wireless Configuration is one of the best programs to run a WiFi  in Windows XP or Vista. I have tried most of the software that comes with the off the shelf wireless adapters and I end up uninstalling it or shutting it off and using the Windows software. That being said, many people including myself have had issues with connectivity to their router. Some people are having problems with the wireless adapter not making or keeping the connection. If you have a computer that is not behaving and you know that the router is working correctly then here is a trick I have found that may help.

Windows XP:

Click Start

Right click on My Computer

When a window pops up click on properties

Click on the Hardware tab

Click Device Manager

Click the [+] next to Network Adapters

Find your wireless card and right click on it.

Click Disable

Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.

Continue disabling the device.

Wait 30 seconds or so.

Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.

Exit the device manager.

Reconnect to your router.

You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Windows Vista:

Click Start Logo

Right Click Computer

Click Device Manager

Windows will ask you about opening Device Manager

Click Continue

Click the [+] next to Network Adapters

Find your wireless card and right click on it.

Click Disable

Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.

Continue disabling the device.

Wait 30 seconds or so.

Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.

Exit the device manager.

Reconnect to your router.

You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Hope this helps...

It worked! I've spent almost two days trying to get into my pc! I posted my issue on forums and tried MS KB to no avail. Thank you so much!      "Brad"
