What is a Hub
Hubs are a way of connecting computers in your network. A hub is a simple way of broadcasting information throughout your network. A hub rebroadcasts all packets (packs of information) sent in from any port. Since all packets are rebroadcast throughout the network packet collisions occur which impedes traffic on the network.

Networks created with hubs typically use hosts and you can only use up to 4 hubs between hosts. The Hosts that control the network must have fault control to account for the collisions. This makes for a very poor network because of the limitations hubs create due to design.

Hubs do not automatically assign each device a network or IP address. This means that you have to manually give each device an address or have a device that will do this for you (host).
